Recycle Ann Arbor only accepts items that can be authentically recycled. When in doubt, throw it out, as items that can't be recycled will contaminate the recycling stream. Car batteries
Lead-acid car batteries are accepted for recycling at the Drop-Off Station if undamaged. A damaged battery is defined as bloated, leaking, corrosion on terminals, or dented. To prevent fires, please tape the ends/terminals of each battery before recycling them. Washtenaw County's Home Toxics will take undamaged and damaged batteries. Lumber, untreated
Untreated, unpainted lumber is accepted in Ann Arbor curbside compost carts, and at the Drop-Off Station and Recovery Yard for recycling. No paint/stain, particle board, or plywood is accepted. Untreated lumber (new full pieces) and plywood (must be at least 4’x8’ sheets) are accepted for donation at Habitat for Humanity Restore. Treated lumber is not recyclable.Accepted at:
