Recycle Ann Arbor only accepts items that can be authentically recycled. When in doubt, throw it out, as items that can't be recycled will contaminate the recycling stream. Lead-acid car batteries are accepted for recycling at the Drop-Off Station if undamaged. A damaged battery is defined as bloated, leaking, corrosion on terminals, or dented. To prevent fires, please tape the ends/terminals of each battery before recycling them. Washtenaw County's Home Toxics will take undamaged and damaged batteries.
