What To Do With Return to A-Z Guide
Thermometers, thermostats
Thermostats (mercury and digital) are accepted for sage disposal at Washtenaw County's Home Toxics disposal site.
Recycle Right!
Thermostats/thermometers contain harmful chemicals like mercury and can only be safely disposed of at certified drop-off locations. When transporting mercury, it is important to keep them upright to prevent spills. If a spill does occur, it can be dangerous, and the cleanup costs can be quite high.
Choose Zero Waste!
Consider switching to smart thermostats, such as Nest! These allow you to monitor your energy usage and offer more environmentally friendly options.
