Nickel cadmium batteries
Undamaged and damaged rechargeable nickel cadmium batteries (Ni–Cd battery or NiCad battery) are accepted for recycling at Washtenaw County's Home Toxics disposal site (appointments are required). To prevent fires, please tape the ends/terminals of each battery before recycling them. Before taking them in, you must contact Washtenaw Home Toxics for proper packaging requirements. Nickel cadmium batteries are small dry-cell seal batteries. They are commonly used in cordless power tools, cordless/wireless phones, camcorders, portable electronics, and remote-controlled toys. Do not put batteries of any kind in your curbside recycling cart.
