What To Do With Return to A-Z Guide

Mothballs

Mothballs are considered a home toxic and are accepted at Washtenaw County's Home Toxics disposal site for proper disposal.

Recycle Right!

Always wear rubber gloves while handling mothballs to ensure that chemicals do not get on your hands. Put any loose mothballs in a sealable tub or box. Do not put moth balls in your curbside recycling cart. The hazardous materials create dangerous conditions for our workers and could contaminate an entire load of recyclables, turning them into trash and not recycled. Dispose of these safely at the Washtenaw County Home Toxics site.

Choose Zero Waste!

Try environmentally friendly alternatives! Moths are deterred by the scent of lavender and cedar. You can place lavender sachets and cedar chips in your closet and dresser drawers as effective deterrents. Additionally, when storing clothes, keep them in airtight bags to protect them.
