What To Do With Return to A-Z Guide
Electronics, not working or older
Electronic waste or E-Waste refers to any broken or unwanted electronic device. This includes televisions (old CRT tube televisions, plasma, flatscreen), computers, laptops computer monitors, computer accessories, printers, VCRs, portable DVD players with video screens, smartphone/tablets, kindles, cell phones and telephones, radios, and more. E-waste that is not working/older than ten years is accepted for recycling at the Drop-Off Station. E-waste often contains hazardous materials but is also full of valuable materials like silver, copper, gold, and other resources. By recycling electronics instead of throwing them in a landfill, we can reduce the amount of mining and manufacturing required to produce more electronics in the future.
Recycle Right!
Do not put e-waste in your curbside recycling cart or trash. Electronics are made up of various materials such as glass, plastic, and metal, and often contain hazardous materials. Electronics must be collected separately to ensure proper disassembly and recycling of their component parts.
Choose Zero Waste!
Try to repair your broken electronics before replacing them. Repair services and resources are available in and around Washtenaw County, such as All Hands Active.
