What To Do With Return to A-Z Guide

Video Game Consoles, Controllers, games

Video game consoles, gaming accessories, and video games that are gently used and in good usable condition are accepted for donation at locations throughout the A2 Area Reuse Network. Consoles and game controllers that are broken and not repairable are accepted for recycling as e-waste at the Drop-Off Station.

Recycle Right!

Do not put electronics in your curbside recycling cart or trash. Electronics are made up of various materials such as glass, plastic, and metal, and often contain hazardous materials and must be collected separately to ensure proper disassembly and recycling of their component parts.

Choose Zero Waste!

Try to repair your broken electronics before replacing them. Repair services and resources are available in and around Washtenaw County, such as All Hands Active. Donating unwanted but still usable electronics instead of throwing them away or recycling them is the best way to ensure they get reused!

Other Places These are Accepted:

  1. Nintendo (Nintendo Switch, Wii, DS, Gamecube, N64, NES) has a mail-in take-back program for all Nintendo products
  2. Sony (PlayStation) has a recycling program, check their website to find locations that accept Sony products
  3. Microsoft (Xbox) accepts old xboxes and controllers for recycling, check their website for participating locations
  4. Staples accepts all gaming consoles at their in-store recycling station

While we do our best to stay updated on alternative reuse and recycling locations, we recommend that you call locations before taking your item(s) to confirm that they currently accept them.
