What To Do With Return to A-Z Guide

BPI certified compostable bags, containers, silverware, etc.

Beginning January 1, 2024, BPI certified compostable plastics, including bags/can liners, containers, cutlery, cups, etc. are no longer accepted in Ann Arbor curbside compost carts or at the Compost Center. Learn more about this change here. Only manufactured compostable products made of fiber are accepted.

Compost Right!

Ann Arbor accepts CMA-W fiber products for composting. Find a list of currently accepted items here. BPI-certified paper/fiber items are still accepted, but plastic BPI-certified items are not. Check the above links for specific items.

Live Zero Waste!

Eliminate the need to compost these items by going bagless in your kitchen compost bin and using reusable containers and cutlery.
