What To Do With Return to A-Z Guide

Refrigerator, not working

Refrigerators and freezers are accepted for recycling at the Drop-Off Station and Recovery Yard. To recycle these items, the freon must be safely drained and disposed of before recycling the other materials. Due to the specialized care required for recycling, there is an additional fee per freon appliance. It is not necessary to remove the doors from refrigerators and freezers before recycling.

Recycle Right!

Do not put freon appliances or appliances of any kind in your curbside recycling cart. The hazardous waste/chemicals inside could leak out, which creates dangerous conditions for our workers and could contaminate an entire load of recyclables, turning them into trash and not recycled. Bulky appliances also damage equipment and create unsafe conditions for our workers.

Choose Zero Waste!

Try to repair broken appliances first.
